The Church Of Mac - Takes Love Of Apple To Religious Level

Former “Mac Genius” Tony Edwards has taken the sometimes fanatical love of the Apple Inc. to it’s logical conclusion by creating “The Church of Mac”. Edwards portrays the fictional character, “The Reverend Doctor Bobby Newton”, whom he describes as “a mash-up of Stephen Colbert, Dr. Michael Beckwith (of Oprah fame) and The Onion.”

Edwards’ website, features a series of video iPodcasts, in which “Dr. Bobby” gives computer advice to “brothers and sisters in Apple”, leads them in the recitation of “Steve’s Prayer” and invites Mac users worldwide to sing Apple hymns with “The Church of Mac Gospel Karaoke”. Although Edwards is no longer associated with Apple, the podcasts have been approved by the company and are freely available at the iTunes Store. (more…)

Today marks the start of the first ever “Easter mEgg Hunt”: Seasonal fun and discounts for Mac users. Select Mac indie developers have joined forced to offer Mac users some seasonal fun as well as the opportunity to earn discounts on quality Mac software.

Participating sites will show a banner: Spot the Eggs, get Mac Software, 20% off. This takes visitors to the “Easter mEgg Hunt” homepage. From there they start the hunt for eggs on other participating sites. Eggs are small images which link back to the “Easter mEgg Hunt” site where their contents is revealed.

Throughout the Second World War, the town of Hillersleben, Germany was home to one of the Third Reich’s most crucial weapons research centers. At a sprawling facility nestled in the forested hills, a contingent of 150 engineers and physicists developed and evaluated all manner of experimental weapons, a substantial number of which were ultimately adopted by the Nazi war machine.When Germany surrendered in May 1945, the scientists at Hillersleben were forced to abandon an assortment of death-bringing innovations at various stages of completion. Among these were a rocket-assisted artillery shell which had 50% more range than standard artillery, a 600mm mortar which fired one-ton self-propelled projectiles for up to three and a half miles, a modified Tiger tank which could fire 760-pound rockets up to six miles, and a chain-like projectile made up of small, linked rockets with a range of 100 miles. But the military masterminds’ most sinister ambitions were embodied in their behemoth Sonnengewehr, or “Sun Gun” project– an orbital weapon intended to exact fiery punishment upon the enemies of the Third Reich, forever establishing their dominance over the genetically inferior Untermenschen of the Earth. HungryFlix Pushes HD Movies to Apple TV and iTunes

HungryFlix, the Internet’s first distributor of premium, independent video content specifically formatted for portable devices, is continuing to drive innovation in the movie download space by announcing that content providers can now upload movies of up to 1GB in size. This increased storage capacity will allow for high quality movies to be delivered to Macs, PCs and especially, Apple TV.

HungryFlix was the pioneer in providing indie films for portable media players such as the Apple iPod, iPhone and Sony PSP. The web startup is also offering support for the new class of home media servers such as Apple TV and slingmedia’s slingbox. NIN releases new album as a Torrent

Unless you’ve been without a computer for the past year, you no doubt have heard that Radiohead chose a somewhat unorthodox means of releasing their latest album entitled In Rainbows. They first made the title available for download with a “pay whatever you want” marketing scheme that drew as much scrutiny as it did praise. As was their announced plan from the get-go, In Rainbows was later pulled from their download site and released conventionally.

Nine Inch Nails, brainchild of acclaimed artist Trent Reznor, must have been inspired by Radiohead, though taking a slightly different approach but the media hype may prove just as valuable. So what are they up to? They have officially released the first of four volumes of a new album entitled Ghosts I - IV on various BitTorrent sites. Talent: Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Eric Bana, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, J.J. Abrams (Director)
Synopsis: A chronicle of the early days of James T. Kirk and his fellow USS Enterprise crew members.
The Buzz: J.J. Abrams has practically an entire year to make sure that his installment is up to par, as he would be an idiot to disappoint the throngs of Trekkies that will be putting his film under a microscope. And while they may be harsh, they should also be a very excited bunch — as there hasn’t been much in the way of a good Trek film since — ever.

4. Iron Man (imdb)

Talent: Robert Downey Jr., Terrence Howard, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jon Favreau (Director)

The Buzz: Did you see the trailer? How much more do you need to see to be excited for Iron Man? Downey Jr. is perfectly cast as Tony Stark and Director Jon Favreau has every fan of the Marvel universe believing. This will be the first big blockbuster of what could be the most exciting summer movie season ever.

The Buzz: You didn’t think that this list would be all summer blockbusters did you? Zack and Miri will combine two of the most beloved comedic minds in all of Hollywood, director Kevin Smith and actor Seth Rogen, to make a movie about two people who want to start a porn company. And it stars the always gorgeous Elizabeth Banks. If you need to read that again to allow it to really sink in, we can wait.

The Buzz: They might as well have titled this film Indiana Jones and the Return to the Bank, as it is going to seriously pad the LucasFilm bankroll. Steven Spielberg brings back his trusted old adopted son (Harrison Ford) and throws him back in the Indy costume alongside his new adopted son (Shia LaBeouf) for what can only be described as a wild ride — and we don’t even know what the film is about yet.

Synopsis: Batman raises the stakes in his war on crime. The partnership proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a reign of chaos unleashed by a rising criminal mastermind known to the terrified citizens of Gotham as The Joker.
The Buzz: Part of it may be the fanboy inside of me, the other part might be the brilliant web of viral marketing being spun by the folks at Warner Brothers, but there is 2008 release that can get here any sooner than The Dark Knight. Christian Bale is back and as badass as ever in the (nippleless) batsuit and Heath Ledger is slowly transforming into the Joker that we never knew he could be. Mark my words, The Dark Knight is going to rule the summer box office.

Obama thanks Japanese town of Obama

The fishing town of Obama in central Japan recently won worldwide fame for its fervent support for U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama.

The town’s citizens have made headbands, T-shirts and sweet bean cakes decorated with his portrait and the town’s mayor even sent gifts.

Now, on the eve of crucial primaries in Texas and Ohio, the mayor of Obama - a town 400 kilometres west of Tokyo with a population of 32,000 - is all smiles after hearing from Obama the man. (more…)

Who cares what Obama wears, seriously??

A recent photograph of Barack Obama dressed in traditional African dress, while on a visit to Kenya in 2006, has added fuel to the fire in the rivalry against both democratic candidates. The picture, submitted to the Drudge Report website, shows Obama garbed in a white turban and white traditional African robe.

Obama’s camp claimed that the distribution of the image was a smear campaign tactic initiated by rival Hillary Clinton’s camp. The Clinton camp denied this, stating that they had nothing to do with the photograph becoming public. Obama’s father was originally from Kenya and this is probably the reason why he made the visit.
